Acoustic treatment for cooling units on the roof of a hotel

Acoustic challenge
A company in the catering industry was faced with the challenge of managing the acoustic impact of two rooftop cooling units that were causing problems because of the noise they were emitting to nearby homes. There was an urgent need to come up with a solution that would minimise the problem of the nearby homes noise being disturbed by the noise.

Strategic approach
The strategic approach was based on the implementation of an acoustic screen with panels and a canopy, designed to effectively contain the noise generated by the cooling units.

Technical solution
The screen design included acoustic panels to optimise sound absorption and silencers at the air outlet to reinforce the soundproofing at the point of discharge. Acoustic panels were also installed on the adjacent terrace to prevent noise from entering this area.

Results
This project demonstrates how a strategic approach and a comprehensive technical solution can effectively address acoustic challenges in specific urban environments, to the benefit of both the industry and the surrounding community. Taken as a whole, these measures succeeded in creating a quieter and acoustically controlled environment in the hospitality industry.
